About Run Strong
On October 14th 2012, I’ll put a check mark beside one of the longest standing items on my bucket list, which is to run a full marathon…42.2 km. In the year leading up to the big event, I want to share my experience: the trials and victories of my training and the fears and laughs that are bound to be part of the journey. While I’m sharing my story, I want to take the opportunity to raise awareness of the journey of many other women who have to find the strength, resilience, courage, and determination daily to seek lives free of violence. I hope that I can use my year of mustering up strength to reach a goal to remind people of the ongoing challenges that women living with violence face.
My ultimate goal is for people to take a few minutes a week to read my blog where I will hopefully entertain (maybe even inspire a bit) with the story of an everyday-girl-turned-marathon-runner while also using those few minutes to meaningfully increase people’s awareness of and response to women facing violence. I’m also hoping that you’ll be moved to donate to Interim Place, an organization near to my heart and one that provides critical services to women and children fleeing violence.
Look forward to sharing this year-long journey with you.
